Innovativ e Approaches to Cancer Treatment

Our scientists and physicians regularly share their research discoveries and innovative treatment methods through more than 500 articles published in top national and international science and medical journals. The Clinic and Foundation work with a number of internationally renowned scientific consultants, including George Klein, M.D., Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden, who serves on the selection committee for the Nobel Prize in Medicine, and Donald W. Kufe, M.D., Deputy Director of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.

Other clinical and scientific affiliations include the Johns Hopkins University, New York University, Research Triangle Institute, Rutgers University, the University of California at Los Angeles, university of Kentucky, Baylor College of Medicine, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas A&M University, Rice University and the University of Houston.

Our award-winning Educational Scholarship Program was begun in 1980 for the purpose of giving high school and college students interested in pursuing careers in the basic sciences and medicine an opportunity to work in the research laboratory during alternating semesters or during the summer, gaining invaluable hands-on experience on the front lines of cancer research and treatment. Students are paid by the Foundation for their work with the express understanding that those funds must be used to alleviate their own educational expenses. This link takes you to 'Application Process' information.

Physicians and scientists are actively involved in community services and education, providing seminars to major corporations and cancer screenings at St. Joseph Hospital and other locations throughout the community. Clinicians, researchers, psychotherapists, and other health care professionals speak on a variety of cancer related topics at local, national, and international meetings, private groups and functions, and radio and television talk shows throughout the year. Interested parties should contact the speakers bureau at the CHRISTUS Stehlin Foundation office.
